Senior Software Engineer
COMPANY:
Gordano has been developing innovative messaging software since 1994. The software provides an email server, a WebMail interface, seamlessly integrated Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam all running on a range of platforms. GMS supports full groupware capabilities allowing full Microsoft Outlook integration providing a real alternative to Microsoft Exchange. The Collaboration server was awarded the title "Best Exchange Killer 2006" by InfoWorld magazine. Gordano is based in Clevedon, North Somerset approximately 15 miles from Bristol.
ROLE:
Development Engineers are responsible for the full development life cycle from requirements capture and specification through to coding and bug fixing. Products are coded in a mix of technologies, the most appropriate being used for each development. Development Engineers are also required to learn new technologies as and when necessary. A solid understanding of C in a multi-process\multi-threaded environment on Windows and\or UNIX is essential. This role requires someone with an unusual mix of abilities including low level C programming through to Web interface design work involving HTML, JavaScript widgets and CSS.
Development Engineers contribute directly to the company's success and are included in a commission scheme payable to all staff.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Solid C experience in a Windows and\or UNIX multi-process\multi-threaded server environment.
- TCP\IP socket programming knowledge.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Web GUI Interface experience using HTML, CSS, AJAX and JavaScript.
- Knowledge of Internet RFCs especially relating to messaging - SMTP, IMAP, POP, HTTP, IPv6, UDP, DNS, iCal, vCard, WebDAV, XML.
- Knowledge of Java, MAPI and C++ would be advantageous but is not essential.
